The very special events and initiatives that take place throughout the year in Marrakesh and the surrounding area provide yet another reason to stay at Dar Darma. Here is a list of the events planned for 2019.

MARRAKECH MARATHON – January 27
More than 8 000 marathonians from all over the world will take part to one of the most prestigious Marathons in the world. The magical town of Marrakesh offers an exceptional setting, a very mild climate in January and a beautiful circuit considered as one of the fastest in the world. It goes along the alleys of palm trees, orange, and olive-trees, but also the ramparts of the city.

1-54 CONTEMPORARY AFRICAN ART FAIR – February 23-24
For its second Marrakech edition, 1-54 will present 18 international galleries and the work of over 65 established and emerging artists.

MARRAKECH BIENNALE – February 24 – March 16
The curatorial concept of this year’s biennial starts the premise of the designated title for the Biennale: Not New Now. A longstanding history of Pan Afro-Arab unity, through critically investigating socio political projects, cultural partnerships, and art movements that have led to many shared artistic tendencies.

BEYOND SAHARA – March – tbc
A unique music, culture, travel and wellbeing adventure, taking place into the Sahara Desert. By day, explorers are invited to join in the countless activities, from sports and yoga to massage and meditation. Then, under the stunning Saharan starlit skies, the music ranges from traditional Moroccan sounds to DJs playing electronic music into the early hours.

TRANSMOROCAINE MULTISPORT – March 13-18
The multidisciplinary sporting event: 5 days, 3 stages around Marrakech across Atlas mountain and desert. Run in couple.

MOROCCO CLASSIC RALLY – March 16-22
Frequently imitated but never equaled, this 26th edition of the Morocco Classic Rally will, in 2019, focus on large desertic areas, during a six-days loop around Marrakech. The selected itinerary is 100%, and on asphalted roads and will offer a wide range of mountain routes and sea sides.

MARATHON DES SABLES – April 8
A multi-day ‘ultra-marathon’ or ‘ultra’ run in six days over a course of between 150 and 156 miles. There is only one rest day. The longest stage is about 55 miles. You may struggle to explain to people why you would want to do this!

MARRAKECH ATLAS ETAPE – April 28
Book your stay in Dar Darma and take part in the charity event of the year. Bike for a good cause.

TRANS ATLAS MARATHON Ultra Trail – June 7-17
As all extreme runners know, there are many places to explore and run on this planet. Trans Atlas Marathon however, one which should not be missed.

ESSAOUIRA GNAOUA FESTIVAL – June 20-23
Local music concerts across the Medina of Essaouira, a charming city overlooking the Atlantic just 250km from Marrakech.

EPIC YOGA FESTIVAL – June 21-23
Imagine spending three days practicing experiencing the perfect mix of yoga, music and arts during 5 Yoga Fusion Master Classes; exchanging energy and engaging ideas with people who really know the impact their actions have when applied with the intention of making the world a better place.

NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF POPULAR ARTS – July
The Moroccan musical and artistic legacy is shown every year in Badi Palace Gardens and Le Village. The most traditional cultural events nationwide. Each day a grand parade belly dances, regional dances, rhythms, poems and costumes fill the streets of Marrakech with color, sights and sounds.
